Learn the rules for withdrawing money from SBI ATM
State Bank of India, the largest public sector bank, tweeted that now any of its ATMs
Cash withdrawal from SBI ATMs has become safer. If SBI withdraws Rs 10,000 or more from an ATM, an OTP (SBI ATM OTP service) will be sent to the registered mobile number. Only then can the money be withdrawn.
This rule applies for 24 hours from 18 September
The tweet said that to protect customers from ATM fraud, State Bank of India has launched a 24-hour OTP-based service across the country. The new rule is effective September 18. This rule will only apply to SBI debit card holders.
No transaction without OTP
The bank has also told its customers that if you are going to withdraw money from an SBI ATM using an SBI card, you need to carry a mobile. Understand that OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Only after entering OTP will you be able to withdraw Rs 10,000 or more.
Need to register an updated mobile number
If a customer does not have a registered mobile number, he cannot withdraw more than Rs 10,000 from his SBI debit card at SBI ATMs.
He should get his updated number registered soon.
This rule is currently applicable for 12 hours
State Bank has already implemented this rule. It has been in force for 24 hours since September 18. As a rule the OTP procedure applies from 8pm to 8am. Entering the amount opens the OTP screen and there you have to enter the OTP received on your mobile number. Only after this process is completed can the transaction take place.
