The decision to reopen Std 10 and 12 schools from January 11 was taken at a cabinet meeting, Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama announced today.  The state government has started preparations to start schools as per the Corona guidelines of the central government.  It has been decided to start January 10 and 12, PG and last year college classes.

The SOP announced by the Central Government will have to be strictly followed

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that the educational work of Std. 10 and 12 and the last year of graduation and post-graduation will be started in the state from January 11, 2021.  The decision was taken by the state government after a meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.  Giving more details in this regard, the Education Minister added that the decision would be applicable to all the boards in the state, including government schools, grant-in-aid-self-help organizations and institutions under the Department of Social Justice Empowerment.  Schools and colleges will have to strictly adhere to the SOP announced by the central government to prevent the transmission of corona.  All the instructions have been sent by the education department to all the institutions, Chudasama said.

Other measures must be taken to prevent the transmission of corona

In order to make arrangements for the prevention of the transmission of corona in the school, including hygiene, the administrators will have to make arrangements in the school in coordination with the authorities.  For this, the principals and teachers at the local level have to coordinate with the primary health center and the community health center and make proper planning.  Students' attendance at school will not be mandatory.

Students are required to obtain parental consent to attend school

Students coming to the school will have to give their approval in the form with the consent of their parents. Necessary forms for this have been sent to the schools, said the Education Minister.  In addition, the online education system currently in place in the state will continue as usual.  Students will not be given mass promotion.  There will be as many academic work examinations as there will be in the school, he added.  The state government is also considering when to start other standard classes and a decision will be taken soon.

Schools and parents have to take care of these things

Sanitation facility has to be provided in every campus before starting school-colleges.

Students should be provided with a thermalgun for checking, sanitizer and soap for hand washing.

Social distance should be maintained in the classrooms and in the school-college complex.  Not only that, the mask should be used compulsorily.

It is also important to ensure that medical services are available within close proximity to the school-college.

Following the SOP of the Government of India, the online education system provided by the schools and colleges in the state will remain the same.

The SOP will be applicable to all government, grant-in-aid and self-finance schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, social justice and empowerment department as well as Adi Jati Vikas department schools of all the boards in the state.

Student attendance at school is not mandatory.

Institutions must also obtain the written consent of the student's parents or guardians to attend school.

Students will also be asked to bring their own masks, water bottles, books, snacks, etc. from home and not to interact with other students.

According to the revised seating arrangement in the classroom, there should be a distance of at least 6 feet between the two students.

The principal-principal will have to arrange for the students to come in stages so that there is no overcrowding in the school-college campus.

It is also suggested that students come to school on the scheduled days of the week and do homework assignments on the remaining days.

It is also advised not to play sports or any other group activity on the field of mass prayer.

Parents will be encouraged to use their personal transportation to get the child to and from school.

Students who use public transport will also be given appropriate precautionary guidance from the school.
