Two days from today, a red and orange alert has been issued all over Gujarat, making a big forecast for the weather so far
With heavy to very heavy rains in the state, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Gujarat on August 22-23, i.e. Saturday-Sunday. At the present stage, a systematic low-pressure has been created in the skies of East Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh and it is likely to move towards the western part of Madhya Pradesh in the coming days. This is the reason why IMD has kept the entire state of Gujarat on orange alert for these two days.
Areas of Aravalli in the north, Mahisagar in the central, Surendranagar and Diu Union Territory in Saurashtra are likely to come under the Red Warning on Saturday. Orange alert has been issued in Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal and Dahod districts and adjoining areas.
Rate alerts have been issued in Banaskantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kutch and Diu for Sunday while orange alerts have been issued in Ahmedabad, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Surendranagar, Jamnagar and Morbi.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) has also forecast heavy floods in the Narmada, Tapi, Damanganga and Mahi rivers for the next 3-4 days due to heavy rains. Rising water levels in several major rivers in the state are likely to serve. The river is also expected to flood. Farmers are forecasting heavy rains causing low pressure.
Megh Maher remains the same in the state. The highest rainfall is in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. In the last 24 hours, 209 talukas received half to 6 inches of rain yesterday. The highest rainfall of 6 inches was recorded in Umargam taluka of Valsad yesterday. After that Anand, Mehsana, Kutch, Navsari, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar, Patan, Kheda, Sabarkantha, Surat including normal to heavy rainfall has been recorded. While Botad, Banaskantha, Gir Somnath, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Ahmedabad and other areas have received normal rainfall.
